The first thing you'll notice about it is its high-tech, silvery appearance (which may or may not go with your current Windows color scheme) that foregoes traditional-looking Windows buttons and controls. We didn't find it that hard to get used to, even though mouseover help (tooltips) from previous versions is sorely missed. You'll also spot a new customizable vertical toolbar called My Sidebar, which can display the latest news from CNN and give you quick access to Search, Stocks, News, and other tools. This version of Netscape is smaller than previous editions and Internet Explorer, but is nowhere near as compact as the competing Opera browser; a typical install is 8.5 MB. Other new features include full support for XML, CSS level 1, and DOM (among others); same-time messaging integrated with browsing and mail; and support for skins. The small file you'll download here will let you choose exactly which components you wish to retrieve and install.

For business sites, you can set up multiple operators to handle visitor inquiries.

These items are relatively undocumented by Microsoft, and fine-tuning them can have a dramatic effect on your throughput. You can change these settings manually, one at a time, or select one of several buttons that change the settings as a group. The group settings include Optimal, Default, PPP, and more. iSpeed is well documented and allows you to tinker with the settings as much as you like to find to your optimum settings. A quick click of the Restore button will return all of the values to the Windows default.
